linen dress–: Is it tacky to wear a white linen wedding dress to my beach wedding?
I recently found a long white linen halter dress in a consignment shop for . I am thinking about replacing my original silk tricotine dress with the white linen. The white linen is shorter (meaning I won’t have to carry the hem while I am walking down the isle), the white linen also fits a little better around the top (I’ve lost too much weight and the original dress just kind of hangs on me). The linen dress is also much much lighter. My groom is wearing khaki colored linen pants and a white shirt. Is the linen dress tacky or too casual? I really like it, but I just want to make sure it is appropriate.

A beach wedding is generally already pretty casual, so I can’t see how wearing a linen halter dress would be too casual. I guess it depends on the style.

Its your wedding, do whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy. Plus if it’s on the beach, it doesn’t need to be super-formal anyways. This should be a happy day, don’t let other peoples opinions stress you out about it.

I think white linen at a beach wedding would be very nice. You could always dress it up a bit with nice jeweled sash or some sparkly baubles.

I think is great if it fits right. Make sure you wear a slip so the sun would not make your guest have a show.
Accessorize! Wear a fascinator, flower, crystal clip or a bird cage veil (traditional veils veils do not do well on a beach, seen one of the bride’s face all ceremony long, and my self adjusting it most of the time).

Linen is such a beautiful material…I love the texture and feel of it. It will play off the khaki colored linen pants your groom wears.
It sounds wonderful….add a pair of strappy sandals in white….flowers in your hair..beautiful. delicate pearls in your ears, maybe a tiny pearl choker single strand….your hair loose, waved and slightly ‘wind blown’….lovely

No, it is not tacky at all. You can wear whatever you want to your wedding. I think a linen dress is nice for a beach wedding.

Sounds like it would be perfect! I like the fact that you mentioned it’s short bec. it’s a beach wedding and you want to make sure you can walk on the sand. Now if it would be a church wedding then I would not recommend you wear it.

It’s your day, wear whatever you want! If you want my opinion, I think white linen at a beach wedding sounds fine especially as your partner is wearing linen.

Question–: CONCEALING DYE STAINS IN LINEN DRESS?
Hi people, hopefully you can help me out here. I have a linen dress that is dyed a dark kingfisher/peacock blue colour. Unfortunately, a nimrod in my house decided to put it in a bathtub (with a leaking tap) on top of a pair of tie-dyed pants. Long story short, dye of pants leaked onto this dress, and now this linen dress is covered in dark blue, purple, mustardy-coloured splotches that didn’t wash even immediately after. I am devastated as it’s my favourite dress, and it was a one-off! What can I do to salvage it?? I can’t even pretend that it is ‘designer splotch’ like its supposed to be there, because its so uneven and hideous looking! Help me please!

I work as a bridal consultant. I think a linen dress for a beach wedding would be fantastic, with a few qualifiers.
–Make sure it’s either lined well or you wear a slip. Linen is VERY see through.
–You’re going to want to get all your posed pics before you sit down, once you sit in a linen dress, it will be wrinkled. So once you put it on, don’t sit until you’ve gotten all the posed pictures you want. Make sure it’s very well pressed before hand as well.
Remember, you can also have your original silk gown altered so that it will fit you better. Silk is also an excellent choice for a beach wedding, personally I like wearing silk in hotter climates rather than linen. You can even have it shortened, if you don’t want to fool with a long dress on the beach.
In the end, it’s your wedding, so wear what makes you feel the most beautiful and special.

If YOU like it, go with it. Sounds great to me, never did understand when having a beach wedding having to wear a long dress and have it to drag thru the sand. Would go great with what groom is wearing. Very nice and lucky.
