Faith cried this morning when she saw her brother go out with Grandma for breakfast. She had to stay home for her ABA therapy. She is now quite conscious of us going out without her.

So when we got home from our busy morning that included a visit to the gynae, the wife and I called ahead to tell our helper to dress Faith up for a short outing.

When we reached home, she had her pretty pink dress on and was even wearing her pretty shiny shoes. And the look on her face and body language told us she knew she was going to go out, and she had been waiting patiently in her outing clothes and shoes, for our return.

For her patience, she was rewarded with a little Hagen Das ice cream (a very, very rare treat because of her strict autism diet), and also a short walk at the nearby mall.

She looks like she almost knows what she wants to order from the menu. In fact, when we tried to tempt her with her favourite fruit, banana (which was a topping we chose deliberately for the ice cream we shared), she pushed my hand away when she saw there wasn’t any ice cream on it.

Smart girl.

I would’ve blogged this Live from where we were, but the M1 GPRS and 3G network have been down all day. Which sucks.

My shoes, after the muddiest day. The hadn’t dried over night, even.

A spiritual sister (a sister in the faith) lost her home to a fire in February, 2007. She is a mother of four, all under 10 years old. Though no one was hurt, the family lost everything they owned.

Putting the word "love" into action, the brothers and sisters in her congregation have worked to care for her and the children. This has included rebuilding her home.

We first learned of this a few months ago from the family that has taken her in. When the date for the build arrived, Lydia and I didn’t hesitate to offer our help, even though we had no construction skills to speak of. Fortunately, there were others with skills who could mentor us.

I volunteered to write part of the message/sermon for the youth sunday service. The theme is “Beyond a Lame Faith.” The message is supposed to be about helping people put shoes on their faith and encouraging people to avoid being stuck in one stage of faith and instead grow in their Christian walk.

Do you have any references I could use, or any ideas that I can get started with?

But it is lame; it’s a lame duck belief system. If you try to make people believe otherwise, you’re being dishonest to them.

There are many examples of people that have done the most incredible things with a faith that tells them “yes I can.” Paul gives many Biblical examples. Find some people post NT times. Who took a leap of faith to start some organization or institution that has changed lives (like Bill Wilson and AA)? Who risked death to save someone (many christian heroes of WW2 saved jews)?

“Hinds’ Feet on High Places”

It’s an allegory about a crippled lamb (much afraid) in the valley of humiliation who is inspired by Jesus to basically get over her fears, climb to high places, and trust him.

First you want to define what is Faith, from the Bible.

“Faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld”. (Hebrews 11:1)

True faith is not credulity, that is, a readiness to believe something without sound evidence or just because a person wants it to be so. Real faith requires basic knowledge, acquaintance with evidence, as well as heartfelt appreciation of what that evidence indicates. It impossibleble to have real faith without accurate knowledge, the Bible says that it is “with the heart” that one exercises faith.-Romans 10:10

Some questions to ask your audience is:

1. Why do many people not believe in Faith?
a. Lack of accurate Bible knowledge.
b. Not happy with one’s religion.
c. Do not understand God’s permission of wickedness.
d. Lives dominated by fleshly desires and viewpoints.

2. How can a person aquire real faith, not lame faith.
a. Romans 10:17
b. Romans 10:10

Faith is strengthened when a person acts on God’s promises and then sees the evidence of God’s blessing on what he has done. Psalms 106:9-12

Illustration: Perhaps you have a friend of whom you would say: ‘I trust that man; and I know that if I have a problem, he will come to my help.’ It is not likely that you would be saying that about anyone you met for the first time? He would have to be someone with whom you had a long association and someone who proved his dependability time and again. Is is simular with religious faith. To have faith you need to take the time to get to know God and his ways of doing things.
