Q&A: How can I lose 3-4lbs per week? (Diet and/or exercise tips greatly appreciated)?
Trying to lose weight for health reasons; I don’t use pills or fad diets, just regular diet & exercise and I’m trying to gear my diet toward a higher protein, moderate carb, low fat style. Also would like to know which cardio exercises are the best at weight loss (I currently work on ellipticals, treadmill and stationary bike-not spinning). Goal weight: 163lbs. Currently: ~200lbs. Any/all tips appreciated icon biggrin How can I lose 3 4lbs per week? (Diet and/or exercise tips greatly appreciated)? !!

It is Better if you eat 6 small meals a day instead of 3 big meals.. or eat 3 well proportioned meals with 2 good snacks a day.. walk, the EFX machine is great but do it at a slower pace with higher resistance to tone muscle and burn fat , and weight train..weight training is not “lifting weights” it is used to tone muscles so when the fat comes of ur muscles can help to fill in the definition .. it is using weights no heavier then 20 LBS.. oh yeah a swimming is good.. it tones muscles with out the stress or strain of lifting weights… yep yep yep

Honestly, its better you consult a specialist to find out what’s best for you. I really want to help but I don’t think I can give better answers than specialist do. Sorry.

good luck

Well, I am also trying to lose weight and it sounds like you are on the right track. I prefer to ride the elliptical trainer for 35 minutes 3-4 times a week. And, I walk the rest of of the time. I would recommend the Medifast Diet by Take Shape For Life. They guarantee that you will lose 15-20 lbs. a month. I lost 25 lbs. so far. I have alot more to lose myself. But, that diet has really helped me eat healthier with 5-6 small meals a day. Good Luck!

And, if you need a Diet Buddy just e-mail me.

This is a GUARANTEED proven method of loosing 10 to 15lbs in only 2 weeks. GUARANTEED!!

I have found that the fastest proven method for loosing 15 pounds without using any supplements is by doing the following:

1. Eat 5 to 6 small meals per day ( every 2 to 3 hours)
2. Eliminate all sugar, sodium and flour from your diet
3. Eat at least one portion of protein and complex carbs per meal.
4. Perform moderate exercise for at least 60 minutes every day (walking at a brisk pace), plus 20 minutes of resistance exercises at least every other day.
5. Drink at least one gallon of water per day

How can I guarantee this you ask?
By virtue of elimating sodium alone you will loose at least 6 to 7 pounds. With the elimination of simple carbs and sugar you will loose an additional 5 pounds. Then, the addition of cardio and resistance exercises will bring you to at least 10lbs GUARANTEED!!!

I recommend for excersize on the treadmill to start doing intervals (check out www.coolrunning.com) alternating between jogging and walking. Also, start weight training….

The Smoothie Meal Plan
A delicious way to keep shedding pounds without stress, strain or pain. Three smoothies a day plus snacks will allow you to lose weight quickly – several pounds in the first few days. I lost 7 pounds in the first 3 days and 15 pounds in the first week! The smoothies are anywhere from 24 to 32 ounces depending on the fruit that you use. You will be amazed at how fast the weight will come off on this delicious and easy meal plan.

It is low sodium
It is low fat and egg free
It is high fiber – it will clean out your system
It is low in calories – averaging 1200 to 1600 approximate calories a day
It is very filling – each smoothie is approximately 24 to 32 ounces depending on the fruit etc.

count ur calories. eat at least 1600-1900 a day. try not to excide 2000. make sure u check the calories on ur drinks too. i drink only water and if i must have something else then do diet soda. calories are the engergy in food. so if u eat too much energy and it is not worked off u gain weight. it is not suggested to eat less than 1600 a day, that is the minimum, expecailly if u r working out.

4 months ago I weighed 230 pounds. I decided this was way too much and that it wasn’t getting any easier. I have never been under 180, so that was my goal to start with. I stopped all sodas, teas, fruit drinks…all I drank was water, 1/2 gallon at least a day. I also started taking Trimspa after getting it approved by my doctor first. He said it was mostly herbs and that it would be OK. I started eating weight watchers meals; one for lunch and one for dinner with a V-8 in the morning, spicy, helps wake you up. Started taking Vitamins, one a day, centrum. Did a full body cleanout, can find these at any herbal store. Walked only twice a week a mile each time. I lost 3 pounds a week on average and started falling out of my clothes. After 3 months, stopped taking Trimspa, started eating normally (but because I was used to weight watchers meals, I wasn’t over eating), and continue to walk. I am still losing 3 pounds a week. My weight is now 173 and still going. Hope this helps. By the way, you don’t have to join weight watchers, I didn’t; they sell their meals at most grocery stores and the points/calories are on the back.

    * also at jennycraig.com, they have a free weight tracker that helps track what you lose. Mine looks neat because it dropped very fast!

You can lose that if your exercise…most diets arent safe. I use a Denise Austin cardio dance work-out and ive lost at lest 15 lbs. in that past 3-4 weeks. Maybe go to a gym, but if your not ready for that go to a store and get some exercise videos and switch off.

All of the following I have done myself, and find it to be tried and true. Just know that what works for one person isn’t necessarily going to work for another.

One of the best things that I have found that helps is keeping an honest food journal. Write down everything you ate that day, time you ate, emotions you were feeling (stress, depression, etc), and if you ate with anyone. After a month of doing this, take it to your doctor or a nutritionist, who will see a pattern of your eating.

The second thing that I do is drink tons of water throughout the day. I don’t allow myself to drink tea, lemonade, anything until I have at least 64 ounces of water in that day. If I do drink tea, I don’t sweeten it. 1 pack of sugar or equal doesn’t have many calories, but after so many, the calories come in. Another way to get in your water is to eat a lot of water or broth based soups (beef stew or chicken soup).

I’m sure you have heard to eat plenty of fruits and veggies. Raw veggies (carrots, brocolli, cauliflower, etc) contain so many important vitamins and minerals that your body needs.

I also walk around the neighborhood everyday. On the days it is raining, I will do a 45 minute workout tape. My favorites include pilates and tie bow. 4 days of the week (usually Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat) I go to the gym. I start off walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes, altering my pace and incline. My rule is: The slower the pace, the higher the incline. Then I do an areobics class for an hour. Many articles that I have read suggest to change your workout every 6-8 weeks. This could mean walking an extra mile or making the incline higher on the treadmill, or swimming an extra 4 laps in the pool.

Don’t compare your results to others. Just know that there are people who can walk faster or slower than you. Comparing yourself is a way of getting discouraged. No two people are the same, especially with weight loss.

That is what I have done in the past 2 years, and have lost almost 80 lbs. Keep up the good work!!
