Three lessons learnt when shooting in the desert:

1. Don’t plan on using your tripod unless it is absolutely necessary
2. Changing lenses…. think about that again
3. Sneakers might not be the best footwear you could wear in these conditions.

Summarizing the above statements, all I can say is, there’s SAND everywhere! And I was stupid enough to learn this the hard way. By the time I came back to my car, my tripod was making this grinding, screeching sound that was absolutely unbearable, and my shoe were filled with more sand than my feet.

Apart from that, Coral Pinks was pure fun. There were just few other people on ATVs and none hiking. I had the perfect opportunity to play with my polarizing filter with a brilliant blue sky and contrasty landscape. Although, sunset looked like the best time to shoot here with the dunes casting beautiful shadows. Noon just didn’t do it for me.
