well i go to a private school so i have like this whole uniform thingy. when i get home i throw it all off and put on like juicy sweats and a big comfy sweatshirt. thats my favorite time of day

right now it’s freezing so i wear like jeans and a sweatshirt to school. i come home and put on comfy shorts and either keep the sweatshirt or wear an old shirt- the cheap ones. i sit on my bed, wrapped in a blanket, and do my homework. i’ll put my hair up or at least my bangs out of my face if i know i’m not leaving the house later…lol

I am a 21 year old American female studying abroad in Brussels, Belgium for a month and want to know how most women there dress so I don’t look too out of place. I will be there in May and June. Also any info on shoes would be most helpful. Thanks!

Just dress as you would at home, with consideration for the weather of course.

Fashion is not dictating what people wear anymore.
You will find most young women wearing jeans, with nice tops for shopping or T-shirts if they are relaxing. School can be both.
Only for offices the dress code is a little more strict, but a lot depends on what kind of office work and which company.
For shoes, most young women I know wear trainers, in light colours, but as fashion changes, so do the colours of their shoes.
High heeled shoes are reserved for going out or office work, mostly that is. In summer you will see a lot of sandals and other typical summer shoes.

Whether you stand out will not really depend on what you wear, but on how you wear it and what bag and belt and so on you take with you.
And on how you fit with your body language.

You can look at pictures but that will not really prepare you for the experience.
Google on Belgium, Brussels, Clothing, Students, University and things like that and select to see images.

There are some great shops in Brussels where you can pick up nice clothes if you do feel that you brought the wrong stuff. Try Rue Neuve and the City2 shopping centre for a good range of high street stores such as Mango, H&M, Zara.

fashion in Brussels is fab just like the French but you have your own individual personality so wear what you want and if you feel good who cares what people say or look ?just stick your nose in the air and enjoy?hope this helps and enjoy your time there lovely country
